The transformation of the Practice of Law resembles the change in the News/Media Industry in the last 10 years. Engrained players with near-monopolies were wrecked by new online entrants that were cheaper to access (but with inconsistent reliability). The old Media tried to gain favor with these new dominant tech players by giving away their property for free or cheaply. This act only diminished them and empowered the new Social Media/Tech giants. Author Jill Abramson takes an in-depth look at what happened in "Merchants of Truth." 

The few old Media players that decided to get away from these third-party Tech dominators and decided to evolve themselves have been able to pull themselves back up.
